Surprise! After a five-year hiatus, the Ridgway Films gang has returned to the wizarding world of Harry Potter for our fourth parody short film. But wait – the last one was called The Final Video! What are we doing making another one? Well, in case you haven’t noticed, reboots, remakes, and spinoffs are all the rage these days, so why not join the bandwagon?
In Harry Potter and the Extended Universe, five years after their last adventure, Harry Potter and best friend Ron discover that their franchise is being rebooted.
In late 2016, we decided that it had been too long since a classic Ridgway Films collaborative project, so we started talking about possible ideas. A fourth Harry Potter short was something we had wanted to do for years, but it was always a matter of waiting for the right idea and the right time. Inspired by various recent trends in blockbuster filmmaking over the past couple of years, we came up with the meta idea of Harry Potter getting rebooted within the story, with a host of strange side effects from such an in-universe reboot. We’re all really happy with how this new project turned out, so be sure to leave some comments and let us know what you think!
