Camp Fangamer 2016: A Recap

Another Camp Fangamer has come and gone, and it left in its wake countless unforgettable memories.  It was amazing to once again celebrate the Mother series with others in such a huge, unique way.  Every year I’m taken aback at how warm and friendly the Mother community continues to be, and the experience of bonding at a weekend camp with these people is always special.  If you weren’t able to attend, I highly recommend checking out the archived Twitch stream.  Here’s to another Camp Fangamer, someday in the not-so-distant future…

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that we created some new video content while at the camp!  Here’s a brief summary of what we did:

  • We entered the 36-hour film fest at camp, which required us to come up with a movie in the hotel during the convention, film it, edit it, and do visual effects for it – all in the span of roughly two days.  What we came up with was a commercial for an exciting new app – Porkymon Go.  Starring Phil, reprising his role as Pokey/Porky from our Earthbound series, and featuring many returners from last year’s camp-concocted short film The Amiibonator!  Watch our Porkymon Go video here!
  • The film was screened on Sunday, so we also have a live version of the short available.  You can hear audience reactions and watch us get a styrofoam head with a photograph of Alfred Hitchcock taped to the front win the prestigious Hitchcock award!  Watch it here!  We’d also highly recommend checking out all the other films people created at the camp – a ton of really awesome creativity springing out of the strange alternate reality that is Camp Fangamer.
  • Speaking of the film fest, we helped Steve Campos and Dan Moore of Fangamer fame shoot a commercial about the film festival!  Watch that here!
  • Finally, there’s a number of goofball moments we captured around the convention (Coming soon to the Kommander Krunchy channel)
